Majority of the 68 protesters charged with public violence have been denied bail by a magistrate in Harare today. The group was arrested on Friday during a protest called by opposition parties pushing for democratic reforms in the Southern African country. Lawyers announced that only 10 accused persons have been granted bail. The magistrate remanded them in custody to 16 September 2016. Only journalist, security guards, pregnant woman, the elderly, university students were granted bail. The rest were denied bail. Lawyers will approach the High court and apply for fresh bail. Meanwhile in Mbare, the 3 activists arrested for demonstrating outside court have been denied bail, they have been remanded in custody to 15 September.
